Beyonce and Jay Z make some big changes – for Blue's sake

While the superstar Grammy award-winners may not be your average mum and dad, the pair are model parents who are “very involved” at daughter Blue’s $19 000 (R26 7513) a year private school in LA, according to Us Weekly magazine.

“One of them always drops her off or picks her up,” a source told the outlet, adding, “Jay Z even goes to PTA meetings!”

The first indication of how involved they are came when Beyonce made a surprise appearance at a fundraiser at her daughter's school in March, 2016.

The Formation singer appeared on stage in a sparkling black and gold mini-dress to sing a few of her hits - including Crazy in Love - and a cover of Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You for attendees of the school's 75th anniversary gala.

Relocating to Los Angeles was a big move for Brooklyn native Jay Z, who has long waxed lyrically about his fondness for his old neighbourhood, including creating a second great anthemic ode to the city, rivalling Frank Sinatra's New York, New York, with song Empire State of Mind which featured Alicia Keys.

However, Blue's devoted dad reportedly crossed coasts for this particular school because of its progressive teaching programme.

The close friend adds, “They moved to LA because they wanted her to attend this great school.”

Pal Gwyneth Paltrow is also said to have helped the pair make up their minds about a move to the West Coast by explaining how great the LA lifestyle is for children.

“Gwyneth was telling Jay and Bey about the quality of life for her kids in L.A. and really swayed Beyoncé and Jay to make the move. It’s all for Blue Ivy," a source said at the time.
