accreditation

We're all breathing a collective sigh of relief at the thought of the year coming to an end and looking forward to our end of year breaks.

But the price of summer clothes, Christmas gifts and holiday accessories can very quickly rob you of any excitement you have for the upcoming festive season.

Luckily 25 November is the famous Black Friday, a day that causes much jubilation amongst the serious shoppers.

Local shoppers are jumping out of their skin for predictions which say that certain retailers will have discounts of up to 80%, but even that is nothing like the sales that happen overseas.

In the US certain stores open at midnight with scores of shoppers queuing outside to be the first inside the store to snap up marked down goods.

Some of the sales even result in chaos and violence. Overseas several people have died as a result of stampedes as eager shoppers rush for discounted goods.

Since the 1932 the day has been viewed by Americans as the official first day of the Christmas shopping season and is believed to be the most profitable day in the American retail industry.

Tips: How to survive Black Friday

Do your homework: If you still need to stock up on Christmas gifts to other holiday needs, check before hand to see which store has it for the best price so that you don’t end up hunting for items in the moment.

If the sale is online you can place the items in your basket so long and only pay for it only once the sale begins.

Find out when stores open and make sure that you get there early enough in case you want to buy certain items.

Avoid large shopping centres unless you need essential items like bread and milk. Lines at the till will be long and there won’t be any parking.

Dress comfortably and wear flat shoes. Also take a big enough bag or use a trolley for your purchases and sure you have water at hand.

Make sure you only shop from trustworthy online shops to avoid falling victim to credit card fraud.

Think ahead and try and buy for birthdays or even winter clothes for the next year. It seems like a lot of money to spend at once but you’ll be saving in the long run.
