Boerewors champion crowned

From now on when South Africans head down to their local Shoprite Checkers to buy boerewors, they will be enjoying the winning recipe of 62-year-old Piet Nkambule of KwaZulu-Natal.

His winning wors will be available from 12 October in the Meat Markets of Shoprite Checkers. Nkambule also drove away with a new Toyota Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body Raider.

Although Nkambule has been taking part in the competition for 19 years, this is the first time he made it into the final. He is the manager at Shoprite’s Meat Market in Newcastle.

Mary Mkhabela from Mpumalanga won second prize and Quiton Rossouw from Gauteng was third.
