Boob job in a tube, face lift in a pen

Wondering what’s new in the beauty aisles? I’ve been lucky enough to play with a bunch of exciting new products this week, the most interesting being Nip + Fab.

Created by the co-founder of cult UK brand Rodial, Nip + Fab’s just launched in South Africa and is exclusive to Clicks. It’s got the beauty world abuzz thanks to products that make big promises, one of them being Bust Fix, a “boob job in a tube” that promises to increase your bust by a cup size. Sjoe!

As my boobs are a very merry C cup, I’m not giving it a test drive but I was impressed with Frown Fix Instant Line Filler (R234,99).

Frown Fix temporarily plumps and fills fine lines to make them look less visible. While the name refers to forehead lines, you can use it pretty much anywhere and, when I slicked it on the lines around either side of my mouth, it definitely made them “disappear”.

Obviously this effect is temporary and eventually wears off as the day goes on but hey, looking better is looking better. Also, as the pen’s so easy to carry around in your handbag, touching up is a total breeze.

Another Nip + Fab gem is their alpha-hydroxy acid-infused Glycolic Fix treatment pads (R264,99). Swipe ‘em over your face to gently sizzle away old, dead skin and reveal a brighter-looking complexion. They also make use of skin-plumping hyaluronic acid and soothing blue daisy extract.

Other news? Kerastase recently launched K, its own range of haute couture styling goodies with Kate Moss as the face.

The collection’s divvied up into two lines; a turquoise “designer” one full of prep and prime products such as mousses and root-lifting gels and a purple “perfector” one with products that add a finishing touch, things such as serums and hair sprays.

Two serious plus points? Everything in the line is infused with heat-protection and they all boast a lovely clean scent that isn’t going to compete with your perfume.

Of all the products I’ve tried so far, I most like K touche finale supershine polishing serum (R260, selected salons).

It’s supposed to be applied to dry hair to bust frizz but I’ve been rubbing a few drops between my palms and smoothing it over the lengths of my hair while it’s still wet. After blow drying, my baby fine locks feel like silk but aren’t weighed down in the least.

Last but not least, GOSH has just launched new BOOMBASTIC XXL Volume mascara (R90, exclusive to Edgars).

Honestly, it didn’t serve up as much volume as I anticipated (come on, with a name like BOOMBASTIC, a girl expect things) but it does create fabulously long, amazingly defined lashes thanks to a large short-bristle brush. I also really liked that the formula is jet black so your lashes have impact and it doesn’t clump in the least.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-slick on every-day mascara, this is a goodie. In fact, just yesterday somebody asked me what mascara I was wearing and that’s all the affirmation I need. Also, getting to yell “Thanks man! It’s BOOMBASTIC, yo!” while making gangster rap hand motions is pretty cool too.

Love, love
