Boy fakes kidnap to avoid parents' evening

The son of a Spanish police officer faked his own kidnapping to avoid a parents' evening.

The 11-year-old boy text his father to tell him he had been taken from the street when he was putting out rubbish and later called him to say he was in the boot of a blue Seat car, which sparked the start of a nationwide search that even extended to Portugal, the Guardian newspaper reports.

But his father later realised there were some keys to a spare flat they own missing from his house, and found the boy, who had been worried about his family meeting his teachers and finding out about his poor grades, in the empty abode.
