Are you surrounded by loved-up couples but have no one to call your own? Do you often wonder what's stopping you from finding happiness with someone? Stop worrying and take a step back for a second; love isn't off the cards for you just yet.
Many of us struggle to find the perfect match, so there could be small reasons which are holding you back. Read on to see if you can address things which may be stopping you from enjoying a healthy romance.
Before you even begin devoting your feelings to an other half you want to make sure you are fully comfortable in your own skin. As clichéd as it sounds, you need to love yourself. That isn't to say you should start boasting about how wonderful you are, but you should recognise that you deserve to be happy with the person of your dreams. The more confident you are, the more your true self will shine through.
One way you can go about this is stopping any self-cursing you may do. For example, if you've had a bad day or made a mistake don't beat yourself up about it. It's easy to get carried away by a negative emotion, but that will only make it harder to put on a positive front when approached by someone who could potentially be your future spouse.
You don't have to go out of your way and look for true love, but don't dismiss it. There's the saying that love comes when you least expect it and, in some cases, that's true. But keep an open mind in the meantime as a person can only fall for you if you're being completely and totally honest. Don't be afraid to explain what you're looking for after a string of dates if you're unsure about where things are heading. It could mean you're on the same page or it could be time to move on. If it's meant to be, you could be working your way towards a love stronger than you've ever felt before.
Keeping up with the being honest theme, don't hide your flaws. Drop them subtly in to conversation while getting to know someone rather than pouring your heart out to them, and make sure you have come to terms with your flaws too (being impatient isn't always a bad thing).
The rest is all down to you; after all, love comes down to that feeling you get deep inside rather than just a list of facts on a piece of paper!
