A cat survived after being trapped in a car engine for two weeks.
The lucky black cat, Princess, was found under her owner's BMW bonnet after she triggered the engine warning light by nibbling her way through the coolant hose pipe.
Julie Tansley, who owns the feline, had been trawling the streets in her car for her much-loved kitty until a dashboard light began to flash, prompting her to check the engine and find Princess peeping her head out from the mechanics.
Julie said, "I have absolutely no idea how she managed to get there. It's just unbelievable ? I mean we've driven to and from school, work, even through the jet wash with her in there. If the warning light hadn't come on I dread to think what could have happened."
Princess was released from the tight spot within 45 minutes and apart from a few splashes of coolant fluid and a bit of weight lost, the six-year-old feline escaped unharmed ? but Julie was left with the hefty bill of £300 (R4 350) to fix the damage her naughty cat had caused.
She added, "It has cost just over £300 to replace that hose, so it's an expensive way to travel, having your cat with you."
