Olympic swimmer Chad le Clos and his family have been under great pressure in the past few weeks – and now Chad has announced that he’s ending his 14-year involvement with his coach, Graham Hill.
In the latest issue of YOU, Chad and his dad, Bert, give their first exclusive interview since the Olympic Games in Rio. Chad talks about the Games, which he says was the worst sports meeting of his life, and the cancer battle of both his parents.
Now he’s decided to find a new coach.
Life is a journey and it's time to lead mine. Thank you @grahamhill196 for EVERYTHING. Excited for the next chapter and link to full statement is in my bio A photo posted by Chad Le Clos (@chadleclos92) on
“Graham Hill has done a great job as my coach for 14 years‚” Chad said in a recent statement.
According to Chad, in the past 14 years he and Graham achieved a lot in meetings such as the recent Olympic Games, where he won two silver medals.
“However‚ having considered everything‚ I have decided to end our agreement and will now start looking to find a new structure for 2017,” the swimmer said.
“For the rest of the 2016 season I will work by myself. Every athlete has to take responsibility for his or her own career and I feel ready to try a different approach.”

“It happens with many relationships,” Bert says. “You break up with your girlfriend or end a friendship. Sometimes renewal must come.
“We’re grateful for Graham’s support and how he formed Chad; we wish him all the best for the future.”
