Maria Shriver is apparently fine with Patrick Schwarzenegger dating Miley Cyrus. The 59-year-old journalist was thought to be disconcerted by her son’s decision to develop a romantic relationship with the controversial 22-year-old songstress. But new reports claim she’s perfectly content with the arrangement.
'If Patrick’s happy, she’s happy'
“It’s untrue that Maria is unhappy,” a source has told People magazine. “If Patrick’s happy, she’s happy.”
The 22-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed last month that he and the We Can’t Stop hitmaker were an item. They attended a USC versus Berkeley football game in Los Angeles, were they were pictured engaging in public displays of affection.
It was previously claimed Maria was less than impressed with the situation.
“She is absolutely not okay with him dating Miley. It’s getting really messy now. It’s got her very upset,” a source had told HollywoodLife.com. “This is putting a huge strain on the holidays for Maria, she’s so worried where this whole thing could lead Patrick. Maria is planning have a one on one with Patrick over the holidays because she wants to talk some sense into him.”
But that’s apparently not the case at all now. The petite singer was reportedly even present at Patrick’s 22nd birthday bash at a West Hollywood nightclub, where they made their affections clear.
"They were cute and affectionate together," an onlooker told People. "Patrick seems extremely happy.”
It marks the first time Miley has made a romance this public since her relationship with Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.
The couple were together on and off since June 2009, and announced their engagement in June 2012. They broke up in September 2013.
Patrick split from girlfriend Taylor Burns earlier this year after a two-year relationship.
