Talking cigarette packets have been created to combat smoking.
The creation, which speaks when the lid is opened, is currently on trial to see if the new posh packaging will force people to give up their unhealthy addiction.
The device ? which has been created by researchers from Sterling University ? has a recorded message which tells women they could risk having fertility problems if they don't pack in the tobacco obsession.
The new creation was initially tested on women between the ages of 16 and 24 and many volunteers said they found the message "hard-hitting" and "off-putting".
Other volunteers insisted the message could encourage them to quit just because it was so annoying.
A woman said, "Some people would maybe say I need to pack that in because the packets are doing my nut in [making me crazy]." Sheila Duffy, chief executive of ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) Scotland, said, "The tobacco industry buys a great deal of creative expertise to market its addictive and lethal products to new consumers, mainly young people. "I welcome the suggestion that we get more creative to put forward images of good health and freedom from addiction as alternatives to tobacco, and that we start requiring tobacco companies to present the truth to their consumers in more eye-catching ways." -Bang Showbiz
