Chris Rock: Meryl Streep rules!

accreditation

Chris Rock thinks Meryl Streep has “gotten sexier as she’s gotten older”. The American comic recently met the multiple Oscar winner at a memorial for the filmmaker Mike Nichols. And the 49-year-old was pretty thrilled that the actress recognised him, let alone gave him a hug.

'Come on, who is better than Meryl Streep? Nobody’s better than Meryl Streep'

“Just Meryl Streep knowing who I was was kind of cool,” he told CBS.

“A friend of mine introduced us, I was like, ‘Meryl Streep gave me a hug,’ and I was like, ‘Wow.’ Come on, who is better than Meryl Streep? Nobody’s better than Meryl Streep.”

The 65-year-old star is known for her dramatic roles in the likes of August: Osage County, Kramer vs. Kramer and Doubt. She’s also dabbled with singing in the hit film Mamma Mia! but Chris also thinks she has another strength.

“And she’s pretty funny . . . All of the great actors are funny,” he continued. “She can be hysterical.”

While the comedian didn’t elaborate on what Meryl had said to make him laugh so much, he couldn’t help but continue to lavish praise on her. Chris soon turned his compliments to her looks, and believes she looks better now than she ever has.

“[She’s gotten] sexier as she’s gotten older. [She] was always attractive, but she’s got like a. . .” he said, fading off as he attempted his best “sexy Meryl Streep” face.

Chris has always been predictably vocal about his likes and dislikes, and that extends to fellow celebrities. As well as Meryl, he recently waxed lyrical about his appreciation of Kanye West.

“Jay Z’s graduated to the all-time list at this point, but Kanye is the most interesting person in the history of rap—the most interesting artist, the most interesting sounds,” Chris explained to Entertainment Weekly.

“There’s never been a rapper with a mystique, and he’s that guy. You wonder what he’s going to say. You wonder what he’s going to wear. You wonder who he’s dated. Rap’s never had that—a David Bowie- or Prince-type guy. He’s cornered the market on it.”
