Clout’s Cindy and PJ Powers' death penalty debate

accreditation

When comes to witnessing celebrities partaking in a heated debates social media is usually a great place for that – just ask Snoop Dogg and Iggy Azalea! But this time around local legends PJ Powers and Clout’s Cindy Alter openly made their voices heard when it comes to bringing back the death penalty.

'We cannot choose who we decide to save, it has to be the rule of law'

“Very sadly, I have to say, I believe the death penalty should be re-introduced in South Africa. Finished and klaar,” Cindy wrote on Facebook.

PJ Powers then hit back with her argument.

“Never forget people, Nelson Mandela was given the death penalty. We cannot choose who we decide to save, it has to be the rule of law, in which case he too would have been "Finnish and Klaar) don't get wrapped up in the collective conscious which is fed to us through one smudged negative window, by the press... Lastly, "If you can't love here, don't live here," she wrote.

Cindy then responded saying that maybe a better justice system in needed in the country.

“PJ, I totally get where you're coming from and it is a very legitimate argument, however, I do not believe we are getting ALL our information from the media, the violent crime in this country is a real and untempered force, which is fuelled by the 'collective conciousness' that they will not be 'rightly' punished, merely put in jail, which is sometimes better than living on the streets."

"Nelson was not put to death, by whatever divine intervention that operated at that time, and I do agree wholeheartedly that we should be demanding a better justice system in this country, and demanding a better governing body. But, being a minority has its drawbacks, our voices are very small against the tsunami."

PJ however, made it clear that she’s still against the death penalty being brought back into the country.

“Cindy, your frustration is understood, but we need to not forget the Tsunami of violence and cruelty led by the minority for a long long time, it may be boring for the "small voices" to hear this but it's true. In order to understand where we are we need to remember where we have come from. Violence begets violence."

"And guess what," she finished. "I love you lotsxx,”
