Dakota Fanning says working with Emma Thompson was a "dream". The 20-year-old star can be seen opposite the British actress in upcoming drama movie Effie Gray, which Emma also wrote. Dakota plays the title character, the wife of Victorian art critic John Ruskin (Greg Wise, Emma's real-life husband), while Emma takes on the role of author-and-historian Lady Elizabeth Eastlake. Dakota has worked with many big names throughout her career, such as Sean Penn in her breakthrough movie I Am Sam, but was over the moon to team up with the Nanny McPhee star.
'Getting to be in a movie that's written by her and to work with her is such a dream'
"Getting to be in a movie that's written by her and to work with her is such a dream," the blonde beauty gushed to TV show BBC Breakfast. "I think when I first heard that and read the script I was so excited and she's such an amazing woman and so talented... So it was really an honour."
Emma is known for her outspoken nature and quirky personality, often triggering laughter from those who watch her. When asked whether the 55-year-old is as eccentric in real life as she is rumoured to be, Dakota had nothing but praise for the acting legend.
"When I worked with her I think... The way I'd describe her, I feel like she's the woman that you meet and you just want to be like, y'know?" Dakota smiled. "She's so witty and charming and kind and so I was just so happy to get to know her. I wish I had gotten to work with her more."
Dakota mastered a British accent for Effie Gray and puts her impeccable pronunciation down to her "amazing dialect coach".
