It’s one of the most exciting developments on our floor this year – the launch of the digital version of YOU.
That’s right, you can now download your favourite magazine every Friday morning, which means no more trudging to the store or anxiously waiting for the postman to arrive with your precious print copy. And if you have a digital subscription it will automatically be there without you having to download it.
The e-version of YOU was launched at the end of October and there has been a phenomenal response without any marketing – readers from as far as Italy, the Netherlands and Austria have been downloading YOU.
So what do you get with the e-version of YOU? Everything you do with the printed issue. All the ads, each picture, every word – it’s literally the entire magazine, just an electronic ¬version on your laptop, PC or e-reader.
It’s published via digital publishers Zinio and you have to register to be able to buy it (see How To Buy). If you have a Kalahari.net account you can buy the e-magazine there too and you’ll be diverted to Zinio, where you do the actual download.
You can buy one issue or an annual subscription and it costs the same as the print version. This is because various fees are involved in publishing online – including paying Zinio to distribute the magazine around the world.
“We don’t have to pay for trucks but we have to pay bandwidth charges,” explains Rudi Hofmeister, a business manager at Media24’s Family Magazines division.
There are many advantages to buying a digital YOU (and luckily it’s here in time for Christmas). It’s the perfect gift for loved ones living overseas – or put it at the top of your own Christmas wishlist.
