Many Cape Town motorists were looking forward to less traffic on the roads on Friday morning because of the school holidays – but heavy rains during the night shattered their hopes. Especially on the N2, heading out of town, traffic came to a virtual halt when a portion of the road near the Liesbeek River was flooded. According to Lynette van Schalkwyk, eTVs meteorologist, 38 mm of rain had fallen by 8 a.m.
