Behind every good dish is an interesting story. Whether it’s your mom’s roast leg of lamb that she had to marinate for exactly three days or your grandmother’s chicken curry that she only makes on special occasions - nothing brings back happy memories of time spent together quite like a delicious dish.
Samsung understands how passionate we as South Africans are about cooking, which is why the company is giving away R450 000 in Samsung prizes for the Love of Food. All you have to do to enter is share your recipe and the story behind it at www.theloveoffood.co.za. You could win state-of-the-art Samsung products but what’s more Samsung Ambassador Reuben Riffel could also cook your recipe on TV.
Reuben is known for his passion for food. In fact, one can’t help but be inspired by the stories that accompany the chef’s aromatic recipes. “We used to enjoy crayfish once a year when my mom made a curry using only the heads,” he says. “The flavour of that sauce was always amazing. Even today I actually don’t like the tail of the crayfish and prefer to do battle with those shells, trying to get to the sweeter meat.” This crayfish recipe, as well as many others, is available at www.theloveoffood.co.za, where you can also enter your own recipe.
There are six categories: recipes with a braai element, desserts, fancy canapés, fish and seafood, quick snacks and slow cooked dishes. How to enter: Go to www.theloveoffood.co.za, submit your recipe and tell us the story behind it. You can also take a picture of your dish or the person or event that inspired the recipe. The competition closes on 22 March, so hurry and enter to join the rest of the country in sharing the best in taste and tradition – we can’t wait to see your recipes and read all your stories!
