Facebook ex-president’s $10 million wedding

And we thought the Guptas were bad . . .

Ex-Facebook president and creator of file-sharing service Napster Sean Parker (33) ? portrayed by singer-actor Justin Timberlake in the movie The Social Network ? married longtime sweetheart Alexandra Lenas (24) in an over-the-top ceremony in California on 31 May.

After having an elaborate set constructed for the event in a forest of redwoods in Big Sur (protected land), without proper permits, Sean will reportedly have to pay a $2,5 million (R25 million) fine – which is small change, considering the wedding cost about $10 million (R100 million).

Sean showed nothing was too good for his bride-to-be, and shelled out to construct a cottage, fake ruins, waterfalls, staircases and a massive dance floor in the woods.

He even hired Lord of the Rings costume designer Ngila Dickson to create unique outfits for all the guests.

But nothing could have outshone Alex’s gown – literally. In a sparkling gold, flowing dress, she looked like a fairytale princess. Guests compared her to Daenerys Targaryen, a contender for the crown in the TV series Game of Thrones.

The 300 wedding guests reportedly included the likes of musician Sting and wife Trudie, actress Emma Watson and Girls starlet Allison Williams.

And all this organised on short notice – Sean only proposed to singer-songwriter Alexandra in February, after she gave birth to their daughter, Winter Victoria Parker.
