Five Songs, five Days

It’s the last week of the month. Always a bittersweet experience – the good news is that it’s payday week for some of us so you probably have five days of happiness before those devilish debit orders suck your account dry. Here are songs to make you happy! Happy shopping!

British band The Flying Lizards are famous for one song only – their cover of Barrett Strong’s Money became a hit single for them in 1979. Think of it as your theme for payday week!

The International First Lady of Rock, Bonnie Tyler, flies into South Africa this week for a series of concerts. The Johannesburg concerts are sold out, she’ll be in Bloem and Cape Town later the month. Here’s her No 1 hit that topped charts in 1983, Total Eclipse of the Heart.

It’s the middle of the week. Hump Day. Here’s something new and bouncy to pull you through the week. Kelly Clarkson’s new hit People Like Us.

Thursdays are Old School Days so let’s take you back to the 1990s with this gem, Dressed for Success, from Swedish pop-rock outfit, Roxette.

Are you ready yet for your weekend? I think you need a big fat thumping floor-filler to play at work today. One Direction is back on the charts with their new hit entitled Best Song Ever. Enjoy your weekend!   –     Ian Bredenkamp
