Former Springboks conquer Kilimanjaro for charity

The group of climbers, among them former Boks AJ Venter, Stefan Terblanche, Warren Brosnihan and Percy Montgomery, made the expedition in June.

To stand on the summit was an incredible experience, AJ says. “But the way in which a group of relative strangers became a tight unit over a period of seven days was definitely the highlight to me. The experience we shared no one else will understand.”

And all of that for a good cause! The group are raising funds for Joint Aid Management (Jam), a non-profit organisation promoting sustainable development in Africa, and its Conquerkili campaign. More than 700 000 children currently benefit from Jam’s feeding programme. For each R360 raised one child can be fed for a year.

Conquerkili aims to raise R1 million. According to its web page it’s so far raised R355 000, enough to save 986 kids from going hungry.
