Not many people look like this at 77! And yesterday the golfing legend who appeared in the pictures with only a golf club tweeted, “I know I'm no Olympic athlete but have worked hard to look after myself. Hopefully @ESPNMag Body Issue will inspire others to do the same.”
Gary is renowned for his superb fitness and apparently does 1 200 sit-ups a day. In an interview with ESPN he says, “I want to show the world how fit you can be at this age and not just accept being old.”
The pictures are only part of his plan, he says. “My big dream now is to help people become healthy. Obesity, as far as I'm concerned, is the greatest problem facing the planet at the moment. It's actually easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than to get the average man to worry about diet and exercise.”
The first Body Issue appeared in 2009, with tennis ace Serena Williams as one of the front-cover stars.
