Golden boy Chad back at home

accreditation

They’d been back in South Africa for only two days when Chad le Clos and his dad, Bert, decided to do some quick grocery shopping. “Quick”, however, it didn’t turn out to be.

Arriving home with packages in hand our swimming hero says shoppers swamped him in the supermarket in Pinetown, near Durban. Everyone, it seems, wants a piece of our new golden boy.

He won a gold and a silver medal in the 200 m and 100 m butterfly respectively at the London Olympics and is already aiming for the next Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

“Nothing has changed in terms of my goals,” he says. “We always said Rio 2016 would be my big Olympics. There’s a lot more I want to do.”
