Kirsty Theologo was set alight by her friends in a satanic ritual. It would be a simple satanic ritual with a Bible and a few candles, her friends promised, and it would bring them wisdom, wealth, fame and power. But on that Friday night things went terribly wrong.

Now a girl is in critical condition in intensive care with more than half her body covered in burns; another has been hospitalised, also with burn wounds, and four young men aged 18 to 21 have appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder.

YOU spoke to Courtney, the 13-year-old girl who witnessed the horrific incident, at her parents’ flat in Rosettenville, Johannesburg.
