Gwyneth Paltrow "couldn't speak properly" around President Obama.
The 42-year-old actress held a fundraiser for the US president Thursday night at her Los Angeles home, with Julia Roberts among those in attendance. Before championing the policies of the Commander-in-Chief, she was beside herself blushing. “I am one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest,” the Iron Man star said as she introduced the president, according to pool reports.
‘So anyway, I’ll shut up now and just say welcome and thank you and we’re so excited and you’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly’
“So anyway, I’ll shut up now and just say welcome and thank you and we’re so excited and you’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly,” Gwyneth gushed.
The actress also complimented the president’s support of equal pay, insisting the issue is “very important to me as a working mother”.
“Most of the gains in our economy go to the folks who are in this lovely yard — and the average person has not seen their wages or incomes go up in the last 20 years,” the president was reported saying.
The president also spoke about domestic and foreign policy, as well as fears over the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Touching on the issue, he pointed out Gwyneth’s two young children with Chris Martin, Apple and Moses, who were also reportedly in attendance.
“I want to assure everybody that the likelihood of any epidemic here in the United States is extraordinarily small, but there’s a humanitarian crisis that’s happening right now in West Africa where children not much older, and in some cases younger than, Apple and Moses are dying on the streets alone,” he said.
Approximately 50 people attended the event with tickets starting at $1,000 (R11102.60) and going up to $32,500 (R359934.25) per person. Funds will be donated to the Democratic National Committee.
