'He even cried': Watch as emotional orangutan kisses pregnant woman’s tummy

accreditation

The joy of motherhood is universal.

When Kayley Bettany took a trip to the Colchester zoo in England, she wasn’t expecting to have an animal experience quite like this one.

In the minute-long video, which her husband Kieran Bettany shared, you can see heavily pregnant Kayley with her naked belly standing against the glass where the orangutan is enclosed. And suddenly the baby bump is the only thing the orangutan is focused on.

The primate tries to rub Kayley’s stomach through the glass and at one point even kisses her stomach.

“Wow, he even cried,” wrote Kieran alongside the video post on Facebook.

There is no doubt that the orangutan knows that Kayley is pregnant. But that’s no surprise because like gorillas, orangutans are incredibly emotional creatures.

In a Facebook post the zoo wrote on their page that the orangutan, Ranjang, was always very curious. “He loves belly buttons, scars and of course baby bumps! His inquisitive way means he loves to interact with visitors particularly those who might be expecting!”
