Creating kitchen masterpieces is Henrico Grobbelaar's greatest passion – so the 37-year-old chef from Cape Town was ecstatic to be named senior chef of the year at the annual Unilever Food Solutions Chef of the Year.
The contest sees the very best chefs in the country battle it out in the kitchen at Unilever's headquarters in Umhlanga Rocks in KwaZulu-Natal.

Henrico took home the coveted title and the R20 000 cash prize, beating out six other participants tasked with preparing a three-course meal with Unilever products.
Henrico is also the captain of the South African Olympic cooking team, set to compete in October in Germany.
"I have been part of the South African team for 12 years," says Henrico, who is currently head chef at the Cullinan Hotel in Cape Town.
"Cooking is my life."
"It is an all-consuming passion which often means I have very little time for myself, my relationships don't last for long and I don't get much sleep."
"But it is a passion that comes from the heart."
