The video, filmed at Luckhoff Hoërskool in Idasvallei, Stellenbosch, shows a schoolgirl sitting on a desk banging another schoolgirl’s head on the desk, kicking her and pulling her about by her hair. Please note the video below might be upsetting for sensitive viewers.
One of the people who shared the video online, Mirencia Williams, says her brother and sister have children at the school who told her about the video.
“This thing must out. I had to put it on," she told YOU.
Meanwhile officials from the Western Cape Department of Education visited the school on Monday morning to investigate the incident.
“A disciplinary hearing has been scheduled for 8 December. The parents of the perpetrator have informed us that they have voluntarily removed their daughter from the school. The school will however still conduct the disciplinary hearing,” says the Department’s spokesperson, Jessica Shelver.
She says the assaulted girl is receiving counselling.
