Jennifer Lopez “knows what it feels like” to be abused.

The 45-year-old superstar has been in several romantic relationships in the past. And in her new book True Love, Jennifer writes openly about some of her most traumatic love affairs. “I’ve never gotten a black eye or busted lip, but I’ve been in relationships where I have felt abused in one way or another: mentally, emotionally, verbally,” she wrote in an excerpt obtained by People magazine.

‘I have felt abused in one way or another: mentally, emotionally, verbally’

“I know what it feels like for your soul to be diminished by the way your loved one is treating you….but everyday that you don’t walk out that door, everyday you accept things in your partner and in yourself, is a day that you’re saying it’s okay.”

Jennifer has been divorced three times, having ended marriages to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony. She has also enjoyed high-profile romances with Diddy, Casper Smart and Ben Affleck.

Jennifer wrote about the day she realised her union with Marc needed to end in her forthcoming tome, noting the epiphany came while she was getting made up for a photo shoot.

“I had just celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. Anybody looking from the outside in would have thought my life was great….What people didn’t know was that life really wasn’t that good. My relationship was falling apart, and I was terrified,” she wrote.

“My heart was beating out of my chest, and I felt like I couldn’t breath….My mom was there and she rushed to my side…..I blurted out the words: ‘I don’t think I can be with Marc anymore.’ Then I burst into tears.”

But all is well now, according to Jennifer.

After embarking on a “road of healing and rediscovery”, she claims to be in “the best place” ever.

“We’re not victims in this life,” she penned.

True Love will reach shelves November 4.
