Idols - fight for a spot in the top 5

accreditation

They want to secure a spot in the top 5 and nothing better than their best is expected at this point of the competition. As the fight intensifies, viewers and the judges were treated to showstoppers.

Kicking off the show was Sonke Mazibuko with a proudly South African hit, Mafikizolo’s “Khona”. He impressed the judges with all in agreement to it being the best performance of the night.“Your singing tonight I would say was the best I have heard on the show,” Randall Abrahams admitted. Next on stage was Crystalene Nair singing Rihanna’s “Right Now”. Both Gareth Cliff and Unathi Msengana praising her for her sexy look but Randall wasn’t impressed by her lukewarm performance saying it wasn’t moving.

Following Crystalene was crowd favourite Brendan Ledwaba, who performed Zaraha’s “Lengoma”. Again judges were not in agreement, both Gareth and Unathi found it entertaining but Randall complained that his singing was a bit flat. Things took a turn when Zoe Zana performed Jessie J’s “Wild” which blew judges away. Gareth told Zoe: “So far you and Sonke are wiping the floor!” Bunny Majaja too didn’t disappoint, she performed P!nk’s “Raise Your Glass”. “So now, so relevant, so you!” Unathi said with a chuckle.

The show ended with another local hit “Via Orlando” from Vetkuk vs Mahoota, featuring Dr Malinga performed by Musa Sukwene. “I don’t think your singing has been more dynamic than it has been tonight,” said Rendall.

As the competition intensifies, all contestants are bringing their A-Game.

It’s up to viewers to keep their favourite contestant in the competition. All eyes will be glued to the telly tomorrow evening to see who will be eliminated.
