Idols presenter knocks down pedestrian

94.7 Highveld Stereo and M-Net confirmed on Wednesday that radio presenter and Idols host, ProVerb accidently knocked down a 37-year-old Zimbabwean woman.

ProVerb, whose full name is  Tebogo Thekiso, was travelling home after broadcasting the 04:00 to 06:00 show on 94.7 when the incident occurred on Paul Kruger Drive in Roodepoort.

“I am shocked and devastated that this has happened,” said ProVerb.

“It was an accident and  I am giving the family and woman’s employer my full support.  I stayed with her on the scene to make sure she received the attention she needed and I went to the hospital as soon as was possible to check on her.  At this point in time, I can confirm that she has no broken bones.  I am waiting for further details on the head injury she sustained.”

“94.7 Highveld Stereo has been in constant communication with ProVerb this morning and he is shaken up, but focused on offering his full support to the family of the woman,” said 94.7 Highveld Stereo station manager, Ravi Naidoo.

“The station is supporting him in whatever way possible.”

The 30-year-old is currently also hosting his second series of the popular M-Net reality show, Idols.

“We wish the person in question a speedy recovery and our support is with ProVerb during this difficult time,” said Pierre Cloete, M-Net’s Channel Manager.

Netcare 911’s Jeff Wicks said on Eye Witness News that the woman was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries.
