Jennifer Aniston will never give up her independence for a relationship. The 45-year-old actress is currently engaged to Justin Theroux, who popped the question in August 2012. Prior to this she was married to Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt and the pair divorced in 2005. She may be preparing to tie the knot again but Jennifer insists it doesn't mean she is uncomfortable in her own company.
'Growing up, I never wanted to be the kind of woman who needed a man'
"I'm self-sufficient and independent, sometimes to a fault. But I would rather be like that than helpless. It's survival, in a way. Growing up, I never wanted to be the kind of woman who needed a man to fulfil [me], although I've had wonderful relationships with men in my life," she explained to British magazine Look.
"Being partners with someone doesn't mean either person has to give up their independence or hide their true nature. You're happiest when you're with someone with whom you can be yourself and also feel very supported and loved."
While there has been constant speculation surrounding the state of her impending marriage to Justin, Jennifer doesn't let the rumours get to her. In fact she is baffled by why people are so interested in her personal antics and makes sure to steer clear of any negative comments.
"I can't really explain why there seems to be this obsession in the press when it comes to my personal life and the constant reports about me being pregnant. I just try to pay as little attention as I can and live my life. Things will happen at the right time," she added.
"It's all about living your life and not being distracted by anything that's being said about you. You need to enjoy everything that's good and be grateful to have found each other."
