Jennifer Aniston's hair 'makeunder'

Jennifer Aniston's hair wasn't meant to look "beautiful" for Cake.

The 45-year-old actress swaps her glossy locks for a unkempt long bob in the upcoming film, in which she plays Claire Simmons who strikes up a relationship with a widower while facing hallucinations of his dead wife.

Hair stylist Justin Anderson transformed Jennifer's locks for the role and found it a challenge to get the look spot on.

"I was thrilled (and nerve wracked) when I got to take Jennifer Aniston from her iconic California blonde, to a dark and drab brunette colour for her movie role in Cake," he told celebuzz.com. "The colour was not supposed to be beautiful for the role, so it was a fine line... But it was exciting, and I can't wait to see the movie!"

It seems blonde is one of Justin's favourite shades as he was also the man behind Miley Cyrus' bold bleached blonde crop last year. This could be the reason why the hair expert is sometimes shocked when big names who boast bright locks dramatically change their appearance.

"I was devastated when Margot Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street went brunette," he sighed. "She was the ultimate blonde bombshell!"

But there is one celebrity who Justin thinks pulls off dark hair perfectly.

"Although I am a fan of Kim [Kardashian's] shiny brunette, I think it's cool for such a recognisable celebrity to have fun and change it up once in a while," he added. "She looked gorgeous blonde as well. I am sure she can pull off most anything."

Some of his more recent work includes tending to Leighton Meester's hair for her cover and photoshoot with November's Nylon magazine, for which she sported a classic ombré style.
