Her eyes flutter open as she yawns and gazes around the room. Some three-month-old babies might wake with a wail but this little one is as good as gold.
The beginnings of a smile turn up the corners of her mouth as her mom scoops her up and settles down to chat about her burgeoning little family. A lot has changed since we last visited Kass Naidoo (34) – aka South Africa’s first lady of cricket – and her businessman husband, Ryk Meiring (45).
Back then the white walls were practically empty but now dozens of photos of the couple’s firstborn, Daniel (now 3), and his baby sister, Ella, jostle for space. The spare room has been converted into Daniel’s bedroom and is filled with toys, including a mini cricket set.
Like his famous mom, who is marketing manager of Cricket South Africa, Daniel is a sports enthusiast and is happiest when he’s outside playing ball. That’s of course when he’s not playing with his baby sister – and little Ella clearly adores her big brother, saving her brightest smiles for him.
