Kate's throwing Harry a 30th bash to remember

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge has reportedly been the brains behind Prince Harry's 30th birthday bash.

The red-headed royal hit the milestone birthday on Monday, and it's thought his special celebration will be taking place this evening.

Catherine and Harry share a close bond since she married his brother Prince William in 2011, and palace insiders reveal she's called on the talents of British singer Ellie Goulding to get the party started.

"Kate knows Harry is a big fan of Ellie and wanted her to be part of the evening. It’s a huge compliment for her, especially because she is such a fan of Harry and all the work he does," a source revealed to British newspaper The Sun.

“Ellie said yes straight away and has agreed to perform whatever Harry fancies on the night.

“It’s going to be a really intimate acoustic set. Harry will love it.”

While Ellie's management haven't commented on the apparent gig, the blonde star did take to her Instagram account earlier this week to wish the Prince a happy birthday

"Gorgeous sunset tonight. Happy Birthday H! (sic)" Ellie captioned a shot on Monday.

Tonight's apparent get-together will be held at Harry's dad Prince Charles' official London residence Clarence House.

Harry's birthday week has already got off to a great start, with the success of The Invictus Games coming to a close on Sunday.

The sporting event was held in London and saw over 300 wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women compete. Prince Harry was one of the driving forces behind the game, and on Sunday a concert was held to commemorate the end of the games, which saw Ellie perform as well as a set from Foo Fighters and Kaiser Chiefs.

Ellie also belted out a tune at Catherine and Prince William's wedding.
