Popular Afrikaans artist Kurt Darren was admitted to a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning after a serious car crash.
Initially it was feared that Darren broke his neck but it appears as if only eight ribs were broken.
According to Huisgenoot he was in a stable condition but is experiencing extreme pain and discomfort.
Emergency services air lifted the artist at about 01:30 from the scene of the accident at Kameelfontein, Pretoria. He was taken to the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.
Darren’s wife, Dunay, is currently travelling in Europe and was only notified much later today about his accident.
Darren, Marnus Biscchoff, who is an Afrikaans music agent, and his assistant Nadia van Rensburg were travelling home from a Pretoria restaurant where they watched the Super Rugby game between the Bulls and Sharks.
Bischoff and Van Rensburg were on their way to take Darren home when the accident happened. Bischoff and Van Rensburg suffered minor injuries.
Little information about how the accident happened is currently available but it seems as if no other vehicles were involved.
