Lady Gaga – what a diva!

Little monsters, rejoice! It’s nearly time for your idol to land on South African soil, bringing all her weird and wonderful ways with her.

As the country goes gaga in the run-up to the pop diva’s concerts we delved a little deeper into her world – which is never a dull place, as any fan will know.

Lady Gaga’s SA shows – in Johannesburg on 30 November and in Cape Town on 3 December – will be as much about her costume changes as the songs she belts out.

Since she exploded onto the music scene in 2009 the singer born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta’s outrageous outfits have shocked, impressed and upset many but they’ve always done the one thing she set out to do by wearing them: get her noticed.

A range of stylists dress the star but her favourite is Nicola Formichetti, creative director for French fashion house Mugler and Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo.

The Japanese-Italian designer always strives to create something new – and with the 26-year-old as his muse he has someone more than game to give anything and everything a go.

His next challenge? Making a dress that incorporates the use of solar power – which means you could charge your phone using your outfit.
