Lizzy Caplan denies dating James Marsden

Lizzy Caplan denies she’s dating James Marsden.

The pair co-starred in 2012 comedy Bachelorette and sparked speculation their relationship had become romantic after they had been seen spending time together recently.

But Lizzy insists they’re purely platonic.

"He's just one of my best friends," she told People magazine. "He's one of my dearest friends.”

The actress did say, however, that she would stay tight-lipped about any romance, if one existed.

"I wouldn't tell you anyway!" she mused.

James split from his wife of 11 years, Lisa Linde, in 2011. The former couple share two children.

In 2012 reports emerged he had welcomed a child with Brazilian model Rose Costa. He later confirmed the news, telling ABC he wasn’t at all concerned about welcoming his baby boy, William, after almost seven years since the birth of his last child with Lisa.

"Once you become a father ... it's like riding a bike - once you learn it, you sort of got it," he told the network back in February.

And while James isn’t thought to be close to settling down, the actor, best-known for his roles in romantic comedies like Enchanted and 27 Dresses, recently admitted playing the guy who doesn’t get the girl is a role he’s not unfamiliar with.

"I can relate to feeling like the guy who is always vying for the girl's attention and not the clear choice," he told British ELLE magazine back in December.

"But I don't say that in a pity party way. In my teens, I was the guy who was getting attention from the girls because he could make them laugh. But as far as being good looking and good at sports, I was not him. So I think it's in my DNA to feel like I have to work harder for women's attention,” he explained.
