The Lone Ranger actor is said to be sporting the huge shiner after boxing at Los Angeles gym Unbreakable Performance on Wednesday.

According to TMZ, the 28-year-old British star asked professional American football athlete Shawne Merriman, who used to play for the San Diego Chargers, to spar with him.

It’s claimed Armie has been training at Unbreakable Performance with owner Jay Glazer of Fox Sports for several months now.

Although TMZ obtained a photograph of Armie, who is 6’5” and an estimated 200lbs(90.7kg), sporting a black eye with a huge smile on his face, it remains unclear who is the victor in the sparring match between the actor and Shawne.

Armie spoke in the past about how his large and brawny stature has negatively impacted his career.

“I've lost out on jobs because I'm six foot five,” he revealed to GQ magazine.

But in the same interview, Armie made it clear investing in his physical strengths has benefitted him in the past.

When he was a young child, boxing helped save him from an unrelenting bully.

“[I was called] Baking Soda Boy. Try going to junior high with the name Armie Hammer. It's open season,” he told GQ. “[But then] I punched a kid in the face. I took it for two years! I tried perseverance…”
