Behati Prinsloo is one lucky girl . . . The Namibian model and her boyfriend, Adam Levine, frontman of American pop group Maroon 5, are engaged. Rumour has it the 34-year-old singer proposed to his girlfriend in Los Angeles at the weekend.
‘‘Behati is very excited," her dad, Boet, told us from Grootfontein in Namibia. Behati is Boet and his wife, Magda's, only child.
Newspapers have been phoning him, he says, but he doesn't want to reveal too much about the relationship. He did, however, say Adam had phoned him beforehand to ask for his daughter's hand. “He did it very politely,” Boet says. The couple phoned her parents to share the news.
“We've never met him. I've only ever spoken to him on the phone. But they did say they wanted to fly us over to meet his family,” he says.
Adam and Behati, a Victoria's Secret Angel, started dating in May 2012. They broke up earlier this year, but recently resumed their romance.
Adam told chat show queen Oprah Winfrey last month it wasn't true he was against marriage, as had been claimed. Actually he was ready to tie the knot. "I think that when it's time, it's going to be obvious and I'm going to do it and I'm going to really enjoy it," he said. Well, it's clearly time. Congratulations, you two!
