Lotter trial: pastor “exorcised demons”

It’s one of the most bizarre and shocking trials South Africa has seen in a long time. Siblings Nicolette (29) and Hardus Lotter (23) stand accused of murdering their parents, Johan and Maria Lotter, in an orgy of violence that included a stun gun, a knife and an electrical cord.

The brother and sister claim they were under the spell of Mathew Naidoo (photo), who convinced them to kill their parents because he was the son of God and the Lotters had to die for their sins.

But the police believe all the talk of God is nothing but smoke and mirrors – the Lotter siblings wanted their inheritance of at least R10 million and Mathew had been in on the plan.

But Pastor Victor Paul of the Apostolic Faith Mission Church in Phoenix near Durban believes in Mathew’s innocence.

He came to the pastor a year ago because he needed help – among other things he was possessed by an evil spirit and it was all Nicolette’s doing.
