Louis-Dreyfus celebrates big win with big kiss

Julia Louis-Dreyfus stole the spotlight at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards with a kiss.

The actress was awarded more than her third Emmy win in three years when she won Lead Actress in a Comedy for her role in Veep. The 53-year-old was also met with a kiss from Bryan Cranston as she approached the stage.

“Um, yeah, he was on Seinfeld, yeah,” the five-time Emmy winner said after the smooch from the one-time guest star on the actress’s long-running television show.

The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons took home his fourth Emmy award for Best Actor in a Comedy for his work on the television show, beating Louie’s Louis C.K, Shameless’s William H. Macy, House of Lies’s Don Cheadle, Derek’s Ricky Gervais and Episodes’s Matt LeBlanc.

"I really don't believe this," the 41-year-old said, taking the time to thank his father.

"I want to thank somebody I've never thanked before, largely because he passed away shortly before this craziness started, even though I think he was able to see it in his own way," Jim said. "But my father, Mickey Parsons, he encouraged me to be an actor. He never discouraged me to be an actor, and in a career that hinges so much on confidence a lot of the time, that was a really great gift."

The FX drama Fargo won Best Miniseries. The series also won Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special for Buridan’s Ass directed by Colin Bucksey. However, all four of the nominated actors lost in their categories.

The series received 18 nominations this year and also won the award for Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys.

Seth Meyers opened the awards ceremony, joking, “This year we’re doing the Emmys on a Monday night in August—which, if I understand television, means the Emmys are about to get cancelled.”

Later on in the night, Billy Crystal took to the stage to give a tribute to Robin Williams, who was found dead on August 11.

"As genius as he was onstage, he was the greatest friend you could ever imagine—supportive, protective, loving," Billy said. "It's very hard to talk about him in the past because he's so present in all of our lives.”
