Man with knife arrested at Buckingham Palace

accreditation

Police have arrested a man who tried to enter Buckingham Palace with a knife.

The 44-year-old was detained as he tried to enter the London landmark ? home of Queen Elizabeth II, her husband, Prince Philip, and their staff ? yesterday morning.

The palace has confirmed the Queen wasn’t in the building when the unnamed man attempted to break in, but gave no further comment.

It’s believed the man tried to enter the palace through its north centre gate at about 11:30am and was stopped immediately. The knife was found when he was searched.

The assailant was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon, and is now being held by the Metropolitan Police at a London police station.

Last month another man was discovered inside the palace after jumping over the gates. He was apprehended in one of the building's state chambers full of priceless artefacts. A suspected accomplice outside the palace was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and both were interrogated extensively before being granted bail, awaiting a court date.

A few days later Prince Andrew ? the Queen's son ? was held at gunpoint after police mistook him for an intruder in the gardens of the palace. They quickly issued a full apology. -Bang Showbiz Share your thoughts:
