Marion Cotillard's partner Guillaume has some things to say

Marion Cotillard's longtime partner Guillaume Canet has broken his silence about false gossip swirling around the French actress' relationship with Brad Pitt.

The Inception star found herself in the middle of Brad and Angelina Jolie's marriage split drama earlier this week, when rumours suggesting she had romanced the actor on the set of their new film Allied began to hit the Internet.

To make matters worse, a steamy trailer for the WWII drama was released hours after Angelina filed for divorce. Watch the clip below.

Marion released a statement confirming reports she was pregnant with her second child, and admitted the rumours she had broken up a Hollywood marriage were "affecting people I love".

Now actor and director Guillaume, the father of Marion's five-year-old son Marcel and her unborn baby, has taken to Instagram to address the drama, insisting the cheating rumours are "stupid and unfounded". PHTO: Wenn "I don't usually make it a habit to comment on rumours made about us," the 42-year-old, who Marion called "the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting" in her statement, wrote in French, alongside a picture of a 'Danger' road sign.

Je n'ai pas non plus l'habitude de commenter les rumeurs faites à notre sujet... Je n'ai pas non plus l'habitude de parler de ma vie privée, que jusqu'à présent j'ai toujours protégé avec beaucoup d'attention... Mais l'acharnement de la presse people, la bêtise vénale de certaines personnes se faisant appeler journalistes, la haine de certains internautes se sentant plus forts derrière un clavier, me poussent quand même à dire la fierté, l'amour, le respect et l'admiration que j'ai pour Marion, de rester aussi forte et intelligente face à toutes ces accusations débiles et non fondées. Je pense que nous vivons tous des choses autrement plus importantes en ce moment et que maintenant il serait temps de passer à autre chose et d'élever un peu le niveau. Même si il y a beaucoup de travail pour certains, j'ai envie d'être positif. Et comme dit si bien Marion je vous souhaite d'aller mieux et d'aspirer à autre chose dans votre vie que d'envoyer constamment de la merde !

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. Marion dismissed reports suggesting she was "devastated" by the news, but wrote: "I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom (sic) I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment."

This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up. Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn't distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment. Marion and Guillaume began dating in 2007 and he directed the actress in 2010's Little White Lies, as well as Blood Ties in 2013. The two stars will share the screen together in the upcoming Rock 'n' Roll.
