Judge Thokozile Masipa summarised paralympian Oscar Pistorius's personal circumstances during sentencing in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Reeva Steenkamp's parents Barry and June sat in the second row of the public gallery, their shoulders tightly pressed against each other
Masipa said Pistorius was 27 years old, a double amputee, single, with
no dependants. He lived with his uncle, was an athlete, had no income,
was not employed, and had no property or previous convictions.
His parents were divorced and he was born with a congenital abnormality. At 11 months he had a "bilateral amputation".
Pistorius sat in the dock looking at her as she spoke.
