Matthew McConaughey loves watching himself in movies. It's been his year, with the star picking up the 2014 best actor Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. He's also had success on the small screen, receiving an overwhelmingly positive reaction when he appeared in TV show True Detective. While many actors aren't keen to watch their performances back, it's different for the 45-year-old.
'I've seen Interstellar twice now and I can't get enough of True Detective'
"I just like watching myself!" he laughed according to German magazine TV Movie. "I've seen Interstellar twice now and I can't get enough of True Detective."
In Christopher Nolan's sci-fit hit Interstellar he appears alongside fellow Oscar-winners Anne Hathaway and Sir Michael Caine. While filming, Matthew lived in a trailer with his wife Camila Alves and their three kids, Livingston, Levi and Vida.
"It was a squeeze, but we managed," he smiled. "Rather than watching television, we stargazed. It was great!"
While he's happy to take a break from technology, Matthew does appreciate material possessions. He admits to liking money because he has such a big family to provide for.
Despite his Hollywood status, Matthew lives in Austin, Texas, near his mother, who pops round every weekend. And when there's a big family dinner, it's Matthew who ties on the apron.
"My wife tries, but I'm better," he winked. "Steak [is my speciality]. I make the sauce for it myself. But the recipe is a secret!"
And when he's not playing chef, Matthew can continue to watch himself in Interstellar. It was recently revealed cinema fans can buy an unlimited ticket, which allows them into screenings of the complex film as many times as they like.
