More heavy rain and storms could hit parts of SA today

Gautengers should ready themselves for more heavy rain. The South African Weather Service has warned that thunderstorms will occur later this afternoon and that there might be flooding.

According to weather forecasters there’s a 60 percent chance of rain in large areas of Gauteng, North West and the Highveld, and that it could last until Saturday. Hail and gale-force winds are expected. Read more: 21 unbelievable photos and videos of Joburg’s flash floods
Gale-force winds are also expected in Algoa Bay in the Eastern Cape. Earlier this month Gauteng was hit by thunderstorms that caused flooding and widespread damage. About seven people died in the flooding. Mother of five, Madelein Murray, is still missing.
