There will be more mobile phones than people in 2014, a report has suggested.
A UN agency report has predicted subscriptions of the gadgets will exceed seven billion by early next year, meaning there’ll be more mobile phones than the 7.1 billion people in the world.
Brahima Sanou, director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, told BBC News, "Every day we are moving closer to having almost as many mobile cellular subscriptions as people on Earth.
"The mobile revolution is 'm-powering' people in developing countries by delivering ICT applications in education, health, government, banking, environment and business."
What's more, the report also found that 40 per cent of the world's population is on the internet.
