He’ll never forget the first time he saw her: the year was 2008, the place was the IT building at the University of Pretoria and he and his student friends were hanging around watching the girls walk by. Then he saw her and knew immediately she was The One.
“I slapped my friend on the back and told him one day she would be my girl.”
And what do you know, now she is – and it’s hard to imagine a better combination of genes. She’s one of the most beautiful women in South Africa and he’s one of the country’s hunkiest bachelors.
News first trickled out that Melinda Bam, Miss South Africa 2011, and Adriaan Bergh, Mr SA 2011, were an item when Melinda started tweeting about it during the festive season.“Luckiest girl alive! Back home after being treated like a princess by @adriaanberghsa in NYC.”
Adriaan (24) was among the entourage of friends and family who accompanied Melinda (23) to Las Vegas for the Miss Universe pageant and afterwards the lovebirds went on to live it up in the Big Apple.
Back in SA, the couple meet us at Papa’s Real Food, a restaurant in Brooklyn, Pretoria, to chat about their relationship over an extra-foamy cappuccino (him) and rooibos tea (her).
