New album by Mumford & Sons debuts big


British folk rockers Mumford & Sons’ newest album Babel beat Justin Bieber’s Believe as the biggest album debut of the year when it made it to the top of the Billboard 200 chart on Wednesday.

According to figures from Nielsen SoundScan Babel sold 600 000 copies in its first week of release, Bieber’s Believe debuted with 374 000 units, Reuters reported.

The first single off the album I Will Wait reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and number two on the Billboard Rock Songs chart. Babel followed on Mumford & Sons’ first album Sigh No More which was released in 2009 and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart.
