Originally planned to be filmed in Australia, the filming of the Tomb Raider reboot is reportedly moving to South Africa instead.
According to several reports, Down Under has turned out to be an impractical location due to "limitations on Federal Government tax incentives."
“They requested an uplift to the federal government’s Location Offset from 16.5% to 30% but were unable to secure a decision in time and had to make the shoot elsewhere,” a source reportedly told Australia's Gold Coast Bulletin.
“Screen Queensland was advised the lack of uplift to the Location Offset incentive was the key factor.”
In case you missed it, Angelina Jolie won't be reprising the role of the main character Lara Craft.
Instead, the heroine will be played by Alicia Vikander, whom you may recognize from The Danish Girl and more recently Jason Bourne.
The much anticipated reboot is scheduled to premiere in March 16, 2018.
