The 41-year-old singer and TV host was married to the 34-year-old pop star for four years, divorcing in 2006. He’s now happily married to Vanessa Minnillo and is glad things panned out the way they did. "In our situation, that was probably the best thing that could have ever happened that we didn't have kids," he told Jenny McCarthy on her SiriusXM show Dirty, Sexy, Funny. The 98 Degrees heartthrob is currently expecting his second child with Vanessa. They already have two-year-old son Camden together, and Nick explained he thinks this is the way things were meant to be.
‘It all worked out the way it was kind of meant to work out’
"And look, you're always going to love your kids no matter how you feel about their other parent,” he noted. “But all things being equal, it was the best thing probably for both of us that we went on with our lives. She's obviously happily married with two and I'm happily married and about to have two so it all worked out the way it was kind of meant to work out."
Jessica is now wed to former American football player Eric Johnson, and together they have two children: two-year-old daughter Maxwell and 17-month-old son Ace Knute. Nick made it clear there’s no ongoing relationship between them.
"She and I don't necessarily stay in each others lives," he said. "I wouldn't say it's friends and I wouldn't say it's enemies - there is just no contact. We both moved on with our lives…it's not animosity, it's not friendship, it's just kind of nothing."
The star also dished on his sex life with Vanessa. The brunette beauty (34) is heavily pregnant, and Nick confessed she’s not much into bedroom activities right now.
"You get to this point, you've got to get very creative with your positioning," he laughed. "[But], I'm not sure she's that comfortable right now with much of anything, including sex, its been an uncomfortable time when you get into the last month and a half… It was my birthday weekend this [past] weekend though, so I did howl at the moon a couple times."
